Forward crossovers, left and right
Skate around a circle allowing the outermost skate to ‘cross over’ in front of the innermost skate, a bit like walking up stairs sideways. You will be going over onto the outside edge of the innermost skate as you cross over. Switch your weight to the crossed over skate and return the other to its normal position. Repeat for several full turns around the circle, then repeat in the opposite direction

Backward one foot glide
Prepare to skate backwards using a skulling motion. At the end of the first a sculling step as your feet come back together, lift one skate clear of the ice and hold it in front of the other for a count of 3. Return the skate to the ice and perform a second sculling step. This time, as your feet come back together lift the opposite skate clear of the ice and hold it in front of the other for a count of 3. Repeat several times

Two foot spin (one revolution)
Perform slow forward crossovers around a point, closing the circle each time. Outstretch both arms as if pretending to fly. As the circle gets tighter, glide on both skates with the toe of the outermost skate pointing in slighlty. Allow the circle to keep closing until you are no longer moving forwards. Now quickly bring your outer arm across your body so your hand touches your opposite shoulder. The other arm should then come in and touch your other shoulder so your arms are crossed in front of your chest. Done properly, this arm movement will cause you to spin on a spot. You need at least one full revolution, but you should be able to get more. Posture is vital, you must be upright with your weight over your skates or you will lose balance.
