Task

What you have to do

Tips

Sit and Stand on the ice

Sit down on the ice and get up again

When getting up, start by kneeling on both knees, bring one skate into contact with the ice and stand up.

Moving forwards (basic skating)

Skate forwards stepping from one skate to the other.

The simplest form of skating forwards, as you push off from the trailing skate try to glide a little on the other

Two-foot glide and dip

Gain a little speed, then glide forwards on both skates, bend your knees stretch your arms out in front and dip down as low as you can go, then come back up to standing before you stop

An excercise in balance, and trying to get you to bend your knees. Remember that all skating should be performed with knees bent to some degree.

Stepping around on the spot

Turn around 360’ by stepping around a spot in both directions

Just get used to turning on skates
